Police rush to get Sergeant M, the shooter of Lim Kim Ya, back to Thailand, expected within 1 month

Today (9 January 2025), progress in the arrest of Mr. Ekkalak Pannoy or M, the suspect who shot Mr. Lim Kimya, a former Cambodian opposition MP, was arrested in Battambang, Cambodia yesterday (8 January). Pol. Maj. Gen. Thiradej Thamsuthee, Commander of Investigation, Metropolitan Police Bureau, revealed that it is in the legal process of the Cambodian authorities because Mr. Ekkalak entered the country illegally, so he must be prosecuted in Cambodia first. However, the Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police have already written a diplomatic letter to request the extradition of the perpetrator to be prosecuted in Thailand, which is expected to take approximately 2 weeks to 1 month.
